Decorating tips: Southern California Interior Style
Modern Southern California style is perfectly suited to Australian Homes. It's warm, laidback, character-filled and beautifully embraces a mix of influences. 2023 interior trends prioritise comfort & authenticity, which we applaud, and So Cal has comfort & character in spades!
So Cal style is rooted in mid-century modern, but it embraces a little bit of coastal & boho and a little bit Scandi. In 2023, all things Retro are at the top of So Cal's list and you'll be seeing this all throughout your mood boards. The colour palette is warm, think Browns & Amber, cooled down by our favourite Green (if Green's not for you, go for Blue) with lots of timber & rattan and boucle for cosy textures - a gorgeous mix of hard & soft.
So Cal style is a great base to build on over time if you are starting from scratch - and at the same time, its blend of styles means that you can simply add a few pieces to your established home to create that unique & lived-in treasure trove vibe that So Cal does so well. It's also great for the indecisive (and those that love a little bit of everything) - you can pick and choose elements from all of the styles you love (just remember to pick a consistent colour thread throughout).
